You have to hand it to the Dead or Alive franchise. No other series in history have better perfected our desire for scantily clad women who can beat everyone up.
Original Bioshock Coming To iPhone
Tecmo Koei and Team Ninja have released a new trailer for the upcoming DLC to Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate. Titled, and yes, this is real, Bath & Bedtime, the DLC features new 'costumes' for the game's roster of female characters. Pajamas are a costume, sure, you can wear pajamas elsewhere. A towel, on the other hand, not really a costume. It's an inbetween clothing item and one I can't imagine would ever stay on during fisticuffs.
Which I suppose is the point. There are 10 new costumes available. Bathtime costumes for Ayane, Helena, Tina, and Rachel; and Bedtime costumes for Kokoro, Hitomi, Marie Rose, Mila, Leifang, and Momiji.

One will notice that none of the men have slipped into something a little more comfortable. Tecmo clearly knows who is buying this game over in Japan and why. For knowing their audience, I can commend them. It doesn't make it any less weird. I mean, if you're going to pull some bizarrely creepy stuff, you may as well be an equal opportunity service provider. I recall Misturugi in one of the Soul Calibur games being all dressed up for a day at the spa. There is precedence for male characters being objectified, though not nearly on the same level at all.
Look, female characters are needed in games. They are just as easy to make and can be made, and are very popular. We need to get past just the fulfillment fantasy, all jiggles and curves, before the entire medium can start being taken seriously. Nobody's saying don't have pretty girls in things, but make sure that's not the only reason they're there.
