Middle Earth Shadow Of Mordor Gamescom Trailer Shows Off The Darkness Slowly Creeping Into The World

A new Middle-Earth: Shadow Of Mordor trailer debuted earlier today at gamescom and needless to say, it is pretty awesome.

Hellblade Promises A Very Hellish Taste Of The Celtic Underworld

The game, which bridges the gap between the events of The Hobbit (namely, Gandalf's investigation into the Witch King of Angmar who is actually Sauron) and The Lord of the Rings, is one of the year's most anticipated titles. In it, you play a fallen ranger named Talion who has been resurrected into a state of unlife by Celebrimbor, one of the original forgers of the rings of power who seeks revenge against Sauron.

The new trailer is very dark and filled with fantastical horrors that seemed ripped straight out of the movies. The viewer gets a somewhat closer look at The Black Hand, one of the mini-bosses in the game who is hunting down Talion. The whole trailer is doom and gloom and darkness and is, frankly, amazing.

LittleBigPlanet 3 Trailer From Gamescom Is Sure To Put A Smile On Your Face

Middle-Earth: Shadow Of Mordor is canon lore according to the Tolkien estate. So you can fire this up before right after you finish seeing The Hobbit: The Battle Of The Five Armies this December, play through the whole game and then immediately start the original trilogy and get the complete storyline of Sauron's rise and eventual fall.

The game features an innovative new system called Nemesis which adjusts the enemy AI to a sort of 'memory', allowing fully unique interactions every single time you play through. Enemies will remember you and act accordingly.

Watch the brief but thrilling gamescom trailer below. Funny enough, pay no attention to the release date, that's for Europe. Here in the States, the game is coming out September 30.
