NHL 15 Demo Release Date Announced, New Trailer Released At Gamescom

A demo for NHL 15 will be hitting consoles on August 26, bringing two teams and shortened games to fans ahead of the full release.

You will be able to play as the two Stanley Cup finalists from this past season, the New York Rangers and L.A. Kings. The demo offers three period games, each lasting two minutes, and can be played on Rookie, Pro, or All-Star difficulty settings.

You will also be able to jump into Practice mode, where you can take on a goalie one on one in a free skate. The demo also offers various camera perspectives (a good move, as there are a variety of personal preferences in this regard for the NHL series) including Dynamic Low, Dynamic Medium, and Dynamic High. That doesn't represent the full, usual suite of options (top-down or sideways view players may be upset), but at least there are multiple options in the demo.

A new trailer for Gamescom has also been released, and shows off the arena and fan experience in the game. The crowds are much more lively and unique, with differing character models and behaviors than before allowed by the new, current generation consoles. The unique NHL arenas help--all of the real-life venues have been recreated in-game. You can watch the new trailer below, which entirely consists of Xbox One and PlayStation 4 footage (I'm curious how the last gen versions hold up). NHL 15 is set for release on September 9.
