Super Smash Bros 4 Release Date And News: Recap Of Latest Updates Includes Playable Meta Knight, 3DS Smash Run Menu & More
The Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS details have been consistently coming from Nintendo ahead of the release of both versions, especially after an exciting E3. The game will be out on October 3 for 3DS and this holiday season on Wii U, though we'll likely have to wait for winter to approach for a specific release date.
Nintendo revealed multiple new playable characters during and after its E3 Digital Event, introducing four fighters that include three Super Smash Bros debutants. It looks like (though has not been confirmed) Mr. Game & Watch is returning alongside newcomers Pac-man, Lady Palutena from Kid Icarus, and the customizable Mii Fighters. Since then, we've been shown a variety of new details, ranging from stages to character costumes.
There was a wide variety of information this week from the daily updates, and since Nintendo does not post on the weekend, it's a good time to review what we were shown over the last few days.
The first post of the week showed off two Mii Fighter costumes, displaying Samus and Meta Knight helmets. That fueled speculation about a Meta Knight as-playable-character announcement, which did in fact follow the next day. Fans had been consistently asking for the masked Kirby character, and Sakurai finally delivered the news.
The next update showed off two of Mega Man's customizable abilities, inspired by elements from his series. Finally, Sakurai posted the 3DS' Smash Run menu, where you can pick which powers you want to take along on your attempt.
