Google Glass Patent Design Looks More Like Normal Eyeglasses [Image]

Google Apparently Working On Less Obvious Glass Design

Google is working on a normal-looking pair of their infamous Glass headset, according to a patent that was granted to the company last week.

The patent is for, simply, a "wearable device display," but clearly is meant to be an iteration of Glass. The technology is very similar, except that these glasses look like, well, normal glasses.

A major difference between the patent and the Glass currently available is that the prism which projects the device's display is much smaller and out of the way. While not bulky compared to previous attempts at headset technology, no early adopter is able to really hide the fact that they have Glass strapped to their face (and could be recording other bar patrons conversations...). The device in the patent is far more unassuming and quiet, with not a whole lot more visible technology than a regular pair of glasses.

Of course, they have to fit in all that tech somewhere. The sides are much bulkier than a normal pair of glasses, so the battery, processor and all that other good stuff will be sitting right next to your temple.

Since the devices have seen roll-outs around the country, Google has been losing a publicity battle surrounding Glass-not only are the expensive specs slow to catch on, many have negative opinions of the "Explorers" that are already wearing the specs. Attempting to make the tech less obvious will help Mountain View push back against the haters.
