NHL 15 Demo Released, New 'Living Worlds' Trailer Shows Off Unique Authentic Arenas And Fan

EA Sports has launched the NHL 15 demo on Xbox One (with the PS4 version to follow soon) along with a new trailer, which highlights the active arenas in which your games will take place.

The "Living Worlds" trailer, below, again shows off the effort the developers have put into making each arena unique and authentic. We've seen the individuality of each arena in screenshots before and have been told how the fans will be improved, but this video displays all of that in more detail.

The arenas are each uniquely scaled versions of the real-life proportions and seating charts, and the ice reflects the individual lighting installations. The Garden's iconic ceiling, the Bell Centre's many championship banners, and The Joe's older and cracked stairways have all made it into NHL 15.

There are over 9,000 individual crowd models, and it definitely shows. The variety is huge compared to the handful of different crowd members in past titles, and contains sign-holders and costumed superfans. Smarter or more aware fans will notice the play developing and anticipate a scoring chance before the masses, and the occasional enthusiastic away fan will make his presence known. Stadium vendors selling snacks even patrol the aisles--the feature all of the NHL series' fans have been waiting for.

These sorts of features, and the next-gen on-ice physics engine that will be the basis for NHL titles on PS4 and Xbox One, have taken up the majority of the development team's time and effort. Game modes unfortunately needed to be cut on the new consoles to make the launch deadline, but some will be coming in a later update. NHL 15 releases on PS4, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PS3 on September 9.
