Super Smash Bros Pic Of The Day Shows Off Challenges Menu, Unlock Panels By Completing Tasks

The Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS details keep coming from Nintendo ahead of the staggered release of both versions, with the 3DS title set to hit on October 3. The Wii U version does not yet have a set release date, but is due out some time this holiday season.

Meta Knight Unveiled As Playable Character In Upcoming Super Smash Bros

Several new characters and other details were revealed at E3 as expected, and we got to see the game in action in a live tournament. Even after these major announcements, though, series director Masahiro Sakurai continues to give us comparatively smaller details through the official site in the form of a daily picture update.

The 3DS version continues to get more attention than the console edition as its release date approaches, a logical move from Sakurai. Today he showed off the Challenges section, which can be cleared by completing different tasks (the Wii U does share the feature, it's worth noting).

Here's his description of the above image:

"A panel in the Challenges area will unlock every time you clear a challenge. When you unlock a panel, you'll see hints for unlocking panels directly adjacent to it on all sides. And this time, each panel will unlock pictures related to the challenge. This is tougher than it looks, you know? The challenges in the 3DS version are a little on the easy side, but the Wii U version challenges might be a bit trickier."

Keep checking back for more Super Smash Bros. news each day, where we'll hopefully see new character reveals or a Wii U release date.
