Let's go over all the things we already know about NetheRealm Studios' upcoming tenth instalment of the legendary Mortal Kombat series.

Ed Boon's Favorite New MK Characters

Release date has still not yet been revealed, though we know that it'll be a 2015 game coming to to PC, Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS3 and PS4. Fatalities are 100% back, since the guys over at XboxAchievements have actually pulled a few off: "We also get the chance to pull off Cassie Cage's fatality, which is one of the most ludicrously gory we've seen. We won't ruin the surprise, but it involves a bullet to the head and a piece of bubblegum. We've still yet to witness a fatality as inventive as Scorpion's grisly face removal though."

Returning characters:

- Scorpion

- Sub Zero

- Raiden

- Kano

- Kitana uncertain (a fan tweeted to Ed Boon she was dead and therefore couldn't return, to which he said "you know this is Mortal Kombat, right?")

New characters:

- D'Vorah, a woman who controls insects.

- Cassie Cage, the daughter of Johnny Cage and Sonya Blade.

- Kotal Kahn, an Aztec-inspired blood god.

- Ferra and Torr, a Master-Blaster like duo of a little person woman riding an armored giant dude.

Every character will have three outfits, emphasizing different fighting styles. Wear a different outfit? You'll be playing a different character almost.

Raiden's variants

Master Of Storms: set electricity based traps on the battlefield

Displacer: various teleportation and mobility powers.

Thunder God: increases hits to some normal attacks and adds Enhanced Lightning.

Kotal Kahn's variants

Blood God: Plant boosting totems

War God: macuahuitl based special moves

There will be NO DC characters as bonus downloads, nor will Kiefer Sutherland have any involvement in the game. Freddy Krueger, a popular MK9 bonus character, is still up for debate.

There will be no Street Fighter cross-over.

Some technical details from the man Ed Boon himself.
