Persona 5 New Trailer Shows Main Character, Confirms PS4 Release

New Persona 5 Trailer Is All About Freedom (And Confirmation For A PS4 Release)

The Atlus YouTube channel posted a new trailer today for Persona 5, giving fans a good look at the game's main character and confirming that the game will be coming to both the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4.

Persona 4 Arena Ultimax Will Release In September With Free Adachi And Marie DLC

The trailer also confirmed that both versions of the game are now slated for a 2015 release.

One overarching theme of the trailer and in the game's branding is the focus on breaking chains. Each title card in the trailer is accompanied by a shattering ball and chain graphic, a nod to the game's theme of freedom. Another theme of the minute-long trailer seems to be the crowds of the big city. The figure in the trailer moves from a crowded train car onto a busy intersection swarming with people, a noted shift from the rural setting fans saw in Persona 4.

Persona Q Release Date Announced

As is quickly apparent in the trailer, Persona 5's branding is largely focused on the color red, continuing a theme from previous titles. Persona 3's art was largely blue, and Persona 4's color palette revolved around the color yellow. It follows, then, that Persona 5 is trying to round out this running motif of the series.

Persona 5 will mark the first entry from the Shin Megami Tensei main series of RPGs to come to PS3, and now the PS4 version will become the series' introduction to the new generation of consoles as well. The last numbered entry in the Persona series, Persona 4, released back in 2008 for the PlayStation 2. And even though Persona 5's release was pushed back to 2015, series faithfuls are getting closer and closer to the series' triumphant return to the console RPG market.
