The Genie Lives: Robin Williams Tribute Found In-Game In World Of Warcraft; More To Come

Phenomenal Cosmic Powers, Digital Living Space: Robin Williams Genie Tribute Found In World Of Warcraft

After the recent unexpected death of Robin Williams, gamers, yes, gamers came out in support of various tributes to the late great comedian in their favorite games. Blizzard Entertainment heard the people's call and has been busy working to incorporate famous Williams characters into World of Warcraft.

Next Hearthstone Expansion Will Add 100 Cards

The character models were discovered two weeks ago, but today brought us the first in-game screen of the tributes. It seems fitting that the first one players discover should be Genie, the iconic blue softie from the era-defining Aladdin in 1992. Everyone reading this article never had a friend quite like Genie.

The blue djinn NPC, reappropriated from those pesky raid enemies, can be found on the island of Talador in the upcoming Warlords of Draenor expansion. A player stumbled across the figure, simply named Robin, while exploring the island in the beta.

Destiny Trailer Showcases The PS4 Exclusive Dust Palace

Kotaku reports, citing WoWhead: "You can summon Robin by rubbing the Ever-Burning Lamp. When first summoned, he exclaims 'INFINITE COSMIC POWER' and then shrinks and waves goodbye, saying 'itty bitty living space.'"

Now, not quite verbatim. Everyone knows that it's 'phenomenal cosmic power!' but, you know, copyright.

Also "nearby is a large broken egg, a tribute to the character Mork. We have datamined an alternate version of Robin dressed like Mork with overalls, so perhaps he will make an appearance here as well." According to WoWhead.

A shot of several stuffed animals and a tank is thought to be a reference to Williams' work in the underappreciated Toys.

The site also reports that a new title, color text that can go in front of your character's name, is Comedian. Personally, only one man could ever rightfully hold that title, and he's gone to see about a girl.

Kudos, Blizzard. Kudos.
