New Assassin's Creed Rogue 'Assassin Hunter' Gameplay Trailer Shows How Shay Cormac Left The Brotherhood And Became Its Enemy

Shay Cormac Gives The Assassin Brotherhood No Quarter In New 'Assassin Hunter' Gameplay Trailer

In Assassin's Creed Rogue, players take on the role of Shay Cormac, a former Assassin who has turned his back on the Brotherhood, joined the Templars and now hunts Assassins across North America. One big challenge for Ubisoft, then, is how to make players, who up until now had fought valiantly for the side of the Brotherhood, feel comfortable with hunting down the Assassins instead. With Ubisoft's new "Assassin Hunter" gameplay trailer, however, we get a better idea of where Shay is coming from.

Assassin's Creed Rogue Producer Gives Details About Upcoming Game

"I was once an Assassin but learned I was following a lie," Shay growls in the trailer. "Deceived into ending innocent lives, now I fight for a new truth and join my old enemy."

Assassin's Creed Rogue producer Ivan Balabanov tweeted previously that he thinks Rogue's story does a good job of making the player comfortable with Shay's goal: hunting down the Assassins. This quote might be able to give us a hint how they do that. There's a good chance that the Brotherhood has Shay kill someone close to him or accidentally kill the wrong man. Whatever the case, it's clear from the trailer that Shay has no interest in showing his former brothers any mercy.

Shay May Be Deadly, But His World Is Gorgeous In These New Rogue Screenshots

Shay's attacks in the trailer look brutal. A flurry of blades and high-caliber weaponry send streams of blood flying across the screen. We also get a quick look at the game's naval gameplay when Shay's ship runs across an Assassin vessel captained by a man who looks suspiciously like Black Flag's Adéwalé.

Whatever the cause of Shay's anger, it's clear that he's ready to do whatever it takes to take down the deadliest men in the world.

Assassin's Creed Rogue is set to hit the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on November 11.
