In one of the more creative ways to deter piracy we've seen in a while, EA and Maxis have made the game basically unplayable after a completely unavoidable part of Sim-life has taken place for the first time: taking their clothes off. You see how long your Sims last if you don't let them go to the bathroom!

Once a Sim in a pirated copy has taken their clothes off, the censoring mosaic never goes away when they go back on. On the contrary, it would spread and spread until the whole screen is "blocked out". Players who went to complain/report on the official forums about this "bug" were found out for the Sim-pirates that they were.

Loz Kaye, the leader of the UK's Pirate Party, a group that seeks to legalize all online file-sharing, told Newsweek: "[At] least it's an approach that doesn't involve calling the police on anyone. The British government has ploughed millions into financing copyright cops. When the police are facing tough budget cuts for dealing with actual crime, they certainly don't need to be chasing people with pixelated Sims."
