The official Super Smash Bros for 3DS release date is not until October 3, but that hasn't stopped some people in Japan from getting their hands on the game early. This has resulted in online streams and character leaks that are detailed below--stop reading here if you want to avoid spoilers!

One such player who got an early copy is Twitch user Hamayama, who streamed some gameplay earlier today and showed off some unlocked characters. Another streamer, Yushako, also helped show off the official roster. Some characters were those included in the picture and image leak from last month, while others were unexpected.

Ness has been revealed as a playable character, shown in the image below (courtesy of a NeoGAF user), and Mr. Game & Watch has been confirmed as well. He had been shown in the Pac-man reveal video in a non-gameplay footage segment, but was never confirmed by Nintendo as a playable character.

Falco is also making a return, as in Ganondorf (skill and style clones of Fox and Captain Falcon, respectively). Dr. Mario, Wario, and Jigglypuff round out the returning characters, for the time being.

The reported Dark Pit was also shown off in the game, and the much-maligned Duck Hunt Dog is in fact a playable character. Also confirmed are Koopa Jr and the Koopalings--the latter serve as alternate costume for the former.

You can watch the game played live on the stream below, and check out Hamayama's archived stream from earlier.
