New Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel Video Goes Behind The Scenes To Talk About The Game's Cast Of Characters And Their Abilities

From Nisha The Lawbringer To Claptrap Himself: Learn What Makes The Cast Of Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel Tick With This New Video

The cast of characters that has been introduced throughout the Borderlands franchise is as memorably eclectic as they come. 2K Australia and Gearbox Software had the difficult task, then, of choosing only four to star in the series' next installment, Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel!

The Pre-Sequel's Previous Behind The Scenes Video Took Us To The Moon And Showed Us Some Slick New Weapons

The four they ended up with, though, are all strong characters with extreme personalities, unique abilities and everything else you'd expect from Borderlands protagonists. Best of all, they are all characters from the game's history that should ring at least a faint bell for fans. Each character comes equipped with a distinctive playstyle, as this new video from the development pool demonstrates.

The characters for the pre-sequel were chosen partly for their ability to provide players with four different feeling playstyles. Wilhelm the Enforcer, a boss from Borderlands 2, lets users focus on winning battles using superior technology and cybernetic enhancements. At the beginning of the pre-sequel, Wilhelm is fully human. Through different upgrades over the course of the game, however, players will get to transform Wilhelm into the mass of fused flesh and metal players fought against in the previous game.

With Nisha the Lawbringer, another Borderlands 2 boss, players can experience their ultimate Old West gunslinging fantasies. With a mid-range melee whip and an ability that lets her fill enemies with space-lead in the blink of an eye, Nisha plays like some kind of ultimate Dirty Harry/Indiana Jones hybrid. Athena the Gladiator, a character from a Borderlands DLC, lets players go full melee with a powerful sword and a shield that can be tossed about à la Captain America.

Finally, it will come as little surprise to anyone that Claptrap the Fragtrap's playstyle is inherently random. During the video, his abilities are only very loosely explained. This is either because they want to keep it a surprise or because his gameplay is truly so chaotic that trying to explain it would only make matters more confusing.

It looks like at least one more of these behind the scenes videos is planned for around the time of the game's launch. It'll be dealing with the new weapons that populate the game.

Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel! will hit the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC starting October 14.
