Apple News And Rumors: Reveal Event Reportedly Planned For October, New iPad Air And Mini Models Expected

Apple Event Reportedly Planned For October, New iPad Air And Mini Models Expected Alongside Yosemite OS X Update

Although the excitement of the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus unveiling is still fading away and the new smartphones release today, attention is already shifting toward the next big reveal.

Samsung Galaxy Note 4 Release Date Announced, Hitting Next Month

Apple Insider is claiming that an event planned for mid-October will be the site of even more product announcements. The new iPad Air and iPad Mini are expected to feature, in addition to an update on the newest OS X, Yosemite.

The publication cites a person familiar with the company's plans, so this does remain an unconfirmed rumor. It wouldn't be entirely surprising that the company has these products in the pipeline and ready to reveal soon, of course, but we'll have to see if Apple makes any announcements of an event itself.

iPhone 6 Review Round-up: An Evolution Without Revolution

The new iPads are expected to feature the Touch ID fingerprint sensor, as well as the A8 processor found in both new iPhone 6 models. Yosemite will likely boast features that fit with iOS 8's new features, as the operating system already puts a focus on cross-platform functionality and feature parity.

Other hardware plans are more difficult to pin down. There are a multitude of possible computer and laptop configurations Apple could march out at this point, including the rumored redesigned Macbook Air. We reported on slight changes and price cuts to the current configurations in the spring, which could mean something is on the horizon.
