Angry Birds Transformers Gameplay Trailer Shows Off New Shoot 'Em Up Gameplay Style, iOS Version Releases Two Weeks Before Android

New Angry Birds Transformers Gameplay Trailer Looks Nothing Like Angry Birds

For the past year or so, the Angry Birds franchise has been expanding out of the physics-based slingshot gameplay that first launched the series into the public eye. Between the kart racing game Angry Birds Go! and the turn-based RPG Angry Birds Epic, developer Rovio has started to bleed into other gameplay genres with their cash cow IP. Judging by the new gameplay trailer for Angry Birds Transformers, this trend is set to continue even further.

Angry Birds Stella Releases For Mobile Devices With A New Focus On Story And Character

Angry Birds Transformers looks to be a side-scrolling shoot 'em up, where characters continually run toward the right side of the screen, perhaps even automatically, while the player takes aim at the baddies in the background. Players can also transform into vehicle forms for a speed boost or just the good old fashioned joy of seeing a robot morph into a car that made the Hasbro franchise so popular in the first place.

The game's factions are divided up into the Autobirds and the Deceptihogs, with different Angry Birds characters being modeled after recognizable Transformers characters. Fans will get to speed along levels as Optimus Prime or Bumblebee as they shoot down pigs taking cover in their typically fragile Angry Birds fortresses made of glass and planks of wood.

Angry Birds Stella Loses Digital Character Purchases To Focus On The Toys

Both the Autobirds and Deceptihogs will be playable in-game, and players will even have the opportunity to team up with a friend to complete a level, meaning an Autobird and a Deceptihog can fight alongside one another on the same screen.

Angry Birds Transformers will debut on Apple's App Store on October 15. The Android version will be launching two weeks later on October 30.
