Doctor Strange has long been a pet project for Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige, and in fact the only things we know are happening for sure in Marvel's Phase 3 of movies are said film and Ant-Man. Has another major piece of the puzzle clicked into place with the casting of Ethan Hawke as Doctor Stephen Strange himself?

Jason Aaron's New Lady Thor Cover And First Appearance

This Is Infamous certainly believes so, as they're claiming that Hawke has accepted the role over the past weekend and is now in contract talks with Marvel.

These could conceivably break down, putting Marvel back to square one, but Hawke isn't exactly a go-to leading man who has his pick of billion dollar franchises. Joaquin Phoenix, who'd been pussyfooting around with Marvel at least since this year's San Diego Comic Con, is someone coming off of Academy Award nominations and steady collaborations with Paul Thomas Anderson - he could afford to say no. Hawke, meanwhile, has been a frequent star in Strange director Scott Derrickson's Sinister movies.

Of Course There's Going To Be A Tetris Movie

Doctor Strange will tell the story of Stephen Strange, a former hot-shot surgeon who lost the fine motor skills in his hands after a car accident, wandered the Earth until he came into contact with the Ancient One, a sorcerer in the Himalayas who taught him the mystic arts. The script is pointedly not an origin story, however, so we're pretty much in the dark on what they'll do here- remember that Stephen Strange was already mentioned in Captain America: The Winter Soldier as being on Hydra's list of dangerous individuals.

Doctor Strange is set to release on July 8, 2016.
