When Worlds of Magic, the spiritual successor to the classic Master of Magic, was released on Steam Early Access last month. The new 4X title has been well received, and to celebrate, the fine folks at Wasteland have updated the game with a new race, adventurers and another new world to explore, plunder and conquer.

Worlds Of Magic, The New 4X Strategy Title Has A Ton Of Features

This is the first update, but it will certainly not be the last. The balancing issues and sheer amount of new information, including all applicable strategies, units, races and not to mention sheer storyline will keep the devs over at Wastelands busy for months. They combed through user comments and media feedback and have delivered what they hope is a solid first addition.

So, what exactly has been added? Let us count the ways.

Magic The Gathering: Why The Black Lotus Is So Damned Valuable

ORCS - play as a completely new race: the Orcs. These savage raiders are the perfect faction for early game expansion. They join the previous announced races of Humans, Elves, Dwarves, Undead.

HEROES & CHAMPIONS - recruit unique adventurers to lead your armies: from mighty fighters to mystical wizards.

CRAFTING - forge magical artifacts, weapons, and armors. Imbue them with powerful enchantments and grant them to your heroes to bolster their power.

FIRE PLANE - explore a dangerous new world of Fire, with its own features, resources and creatures.

STRATEGIC VIEW - zoom out the map and enter the strategic view. Manage your empire and command your armies on a grander scale.

Worlds of Magic is as deep a game as any in recent memory (I am usually overwhelmed with three resources to manage; Worlds of Magic has THIRTY). The full version is due out early next year. You can purchase the early access version via Steam for $39.99.
