First Hyrule Warriors DLC Pack Released For Wii U: Master Quest Adds Epona, New Villain Characters, 8-bit Weapons, And More [TRAILER]

Epona Trots Onto Hyrule Warriors In New Master Quest DLC; Brings Along Some New Friends And An Adventure Mode

Nintendo and Tecmo have released the first DLC for Hyrule Warriors today, releasing a 'stampede' of new content onto the popular Wii U Zelda/Dynasty Warriors beat-em-up.

Mario Kart 8 Gets The Linkcycle

The Master Quest Pack is available for $7.99 here in the states and the main attraction is obviously Epona, Link's faithful steed from The Ocarina of Time. Players can mount up and ride into battle; trampling over the horde of enemies that are unfortunate to get caught underneath. Nor are you merely confined to attacking from on high; the horse comes with her own set of moves that can be used to devastate all adversaries.

Additionally, a new Adventure Mode map is included, an 8-bit overworld screen that allows you to access different characters and areas of the game. Some of the swords may look like they're from Minecraft, but I assure you: there are seven new 8-bit weapons included in the pack as well. The Adventure Mode also unlocks 16 new variant costumes for the playable characters.

Minecraft Hot Fixes Go Live On Xbox 360 Version

Speaking of playable characters, Cia, Volga and Wizzro, the three main antagonists of the game have joined the roster. The villain addition comes separate from the paid DLC as part of the built in update; anyone can update their game and receive the new characters, and their new 'prologue' adventure. All told, the update should take up about 315 mbs of space.

The Master Quest Pack is the first of a planned series of new content coming to the game. A Twilight Princess pack is scheduled for next month, and a Majora's Mask one is coming in January. No word on when they're going to get around to a Windwaker pack; if only to hear the collective nerdrage about cel shading once again.

Finally, Cia and Lana both get some... interesting new costumes.

You can pick up the pack individually or pay $19.99 to spring for the Season Pass, which in addition to giving you the future DLC packs also grants you the Dark Link skin.

Several trailers have been released showing off the new content. Watch Epona in action, and don't forget the Adventure Mode/Dark Link goodness.
