Halo 2: Anniversary 'Remaking The Legend' Documentary Release Date Set For This Friday On Xbox And Twitch [NEW TRAILER]

Remaking The Legend: Halo 2 Anniversary Documentary Airs This Halloween On Xbox And Twitch

To call Halo 2 a watershed moment does a disservice to watersheds the world over. The game was - is - the video game equivalent to Star Wars: universally loved, endlessly copied, never replicated. Something about Bungie's original Xbox title just worked on the level that transcended expectation.

So, you can imagine that 343 Industries was a bit nervous about remaking Halo 2 for the upcoming Master Chief Collection. We all remember what happened when they updated the Original Trilogy, after all.

Not wishing to repeat the mistakes of the past, 343 will be releasing a special behind the scenes documentary, titled Remaking The Legend, showcasing all the work the company has put into creating Halo 2: Anniversary. November marks the 10th anniversary of the original release.

Announced via the official Xbox site. "Throughout the game's development 343 Industries travelled the world, capturing the perspectives of 343's expansive team of creative partners, Halo fans, pro players, and industry experts to tell the story behind the story millions know and love. With over four-hundred hours of footage and more than 80 interviews, they had what they needed to complete their story.

"We made some pretty important discoveries along the way," said Tina Summerford, director of programming for 343. "As we got deeper into the project, we realized we couldn't talk about Halo 2's impact on the industry without telling the story of Halo's origins. It's pretty awesome to hear the original team from Bungie talk about the beginning of this franchise and it's something we think both new and old fans will appreciate".

The doc will include interviews with original creators and cast members, and even Halo 2 alums: writer Joseph Staten, multiplayer designer Max Hoberman, and composer Marty O'Donnell, whose score is still one of the most recognizable and iconic soundtracks in all of video gaming.

Starting on October 31, Halo fans around the world will have their first chance to see the complete documentary chronicling this incredible journey. Download the full feature for free on Xbox Video, or watch it on the Halo Channel on Nov. 11.
