PS4 System Update 2.0 Release Date Announced: Share Games With Friends And Stream YouTube Sooner Than You Thought

The first major PlayStation 4 software update is launching on consoles tomorrow.

This Video Shows How To Use The PS4's Share Play Feature

The 2.0 system update is bringing a host of additions and upgrades to Sony's new console, including a way to organize your dashboard, the first themes, and the impressive Share Play. We've known for a while that it's on the way, but the PlayStation Blog today announced that tomorrow is the release date owners have been waiting for.

Share Play is probably the single biggest feature on offer in the 2.0 software. It will allow PlayStation Plus subscribers to share a game online with friends who don't own it. Without downloading a game or having it in the console, a friend you choose to share with can play on his or her own, or alongside you in multiplayer. If the person borrowing your game plays alone, PlayStation Plus is only required for you--you'll both need it to share a game and play together.

Much-needed UI improvements will show just your 15 most used games or apps, with the rest placed in The Library. Improvements to The Library's sorting system will make finding anything relegated to that space much easier, as well: you can filter by type, name, recent use, and install date. In addition, YouTube integration is finally on the way, something that really seemed like it would come sooner.

The USB Music Player will allow users to play their own music in the background of games or on the dashboard. Inserting a USB drive loaded with tunes will bring up the music player option, where you can choose to play any MP3, MP4, M4A, and 3GP files. Check out the video below for a general overview of PS4 2.0's features, and look for it on your console tomorrow.
