WWE 2K15 Review Roundup: You Should Probably Wait Until The Xbox One And PS4 Versions In November

Hang Onto Your Belts And Hold Off On Last-Gen WWE 2K15, So Sayeth The Reviewers

A new challenger has entered the ring. WWE 2K15 hit shelves this week and the reviews have been coming in. We've highlighted some of the most noteworthy take-downs and victories of the latest in a long line of wrestling titles. Does it retain the belt earned by it's 2014 predecessor?

Dynasty Warriors 8 Empires Announced, Releases In January

The Xbox 360 and PS3 versions were the ones released (the next gen ones don't come out until November 18) and it seems like there may be a pretty big gulf between the two versions.

IGN is not kind to the last-gen, giving the game a 5.9 out of 10, citing: "WWE 2K15 is like seeing Brock Lesnar going from breaking the Undertaker's streak to losing to Hornswoggle during the pre-show in back-to-back WrestleManias. Not only is it surprising, it's also pretty sad. I would frequently grab my copy of last year's grappler with the intent to quickly check some changes, only to find myself reluctant to switch back due to the far better roster and single-player experience. Do yourself a favor, save your money, and buy WWE 2K14. The minor improvements to combat and commentary in 2K15 don't even come close to making up for what was lost."

Assassin's Creed In WW II, Because Obviously It's Coming, Just Sooner Than You Thought

Definitely curious to see how the next-gen version stacks up.

Game Informer echoes the sentiments: "This version of WWE 2K15 works if you're not planning on buying a new-gen console anytime soon, are a big fan of the careers of the four leads, would like to play the exclusive Who Got NXT mode, and like the mechanics just the way they are. Custom creators, on the other hand, might as well continue to build up their creations on 2K14." The review does add that the focus on the two rivalries, which utilizes new HD footage from real fights "combine with mid-match, in-game cinematics (complete with genuine audio from the events) that trigger when you complete objectives to capture the drama of how things went down." So, fans of wrestling who may have missed the great rivalries of the last decade can get in on the action and affect events as they see fit.

Overall, Game Informer gave the title a 7.

A lot of sites are keeping mum on the current release. We're all expecting better things for the next-gen version of WWE 2K15, which was what we were all excited for anyways. But, if you only own one of the last generation systems, stick with 14. You'll be glad you did.
