Apple Watch Price Rumors: Stainless Steel Wearable Will Cost $500, Gold Edition Costs $5,000, Valentine's Release Date Still Possible?

A New Rumor Puts A $500 Price Tag On The Stainless Steel Apple Watch, With The Gold Watch As Pricey As $5,000

A new report is saying that the stainless steel Apple Watch, the mid-range model of the three planned, will cost around $500. The premium, gold Apple Watch Edition, on the other hand, could cost as high as $5,000.

Report: Apple Watch Will Hit Stores Spring 2015

The new information comes from famed French Apple news site iGen (thanks, MacRumors). Back at the wearable's reveal in September, Apple announced that the watch would start at $350, which now seems to be just the price of the low-end, aluminum Apple Watch Sport. For folks who have a little more room in the budget and don't plan on doing a lot of running with the watch on, the $500 stainless steel Apple Watch is made out of materials more familiar to traditional watches. Of course, if you need to rub your extravagant wealth in your neighbor's face, we now know that the 18-karat gold Apple Watch Edition will be perfect for that with its estimated price tag of between $4,000 and $5,000.

The iGen report also mentions that Apple is still looking to release the Apple Watch by mid-February, which contradicts a previous report that said the watch wouldn't hit shelves until the spring. Of course, all of this information, even if it is accurate, is subject to change between now and whenever the watch's 2015 release date ends up being.

Sam's Club Is Offering Its Members $100 Off New iPhone 6 Models

Announced back alongside the iPhone 6 in September, the Apple Watch is mostly a wearable extension of the iPhone. Featuring a reimagined user interface and home screen, the Apple Watch will be able to run its own version of the most popular iOS apps. The device has also been confirmed for Apple Pay support.
