Evolve Alpha Finished: Turtle Rock Announces Game's Third And Final Trapper Class Character Abe Is A Bounty Hunter Packing Tracking Darts

Evolve's Third And Final Trapper Is Announced

Now that the alpha for Evolve is done, developer Turtle Rock Studios revealed the third and final Trapper, named Abe, that will have a place in the original build of the game when it launches early next year.

Abe's weapon loadout includes an interesting take on the shotgun. This shotgun's range changes depending on the rate at which it's firing. If the player spams the trigger button, the gun will fire in quick, short-range bursts. If the player takes time in between shots, then the gun will gain a little more long-range damage.

Abe's secondary weapon is what makes him such an effective tracker. Abe's Tracking Darts can be shot into any wildlife he comes across in the game's wilderness. If the Monster then eats the tagged animal in his quest to level up, the tracker activates inside the Monster, allowing Abe to follow its movements. If Abe is a skilled enough shot, he can even try shooting the dart into the Monster directly, cutting out the middle man.

Finally, Abe is armed with a collection of Stasis Grenades, which is what classifies him as a Trapper. When a Monster is caught in the area of effect of a Stasis Grenade, he's slowed down until he's able to either escape the effect radius or until the slow wears off 15 seconds later. Abe is able to throw up to five of these at a time, meaning he can create an effective zone where the Monster's movements are severely inhibited.

Of course, Abe also has access to the Mobile Arena shared by all Trappers. This handy little device creates an inescapable area that keeps the Monster in place for a short period of time. Nothing can break free of the are of effect – even unfortunate Hunters who find themselves alone in the Arena with the Monster – until the item runs out of charge.

Abe's gameplay will be featured in an Evolve livestream that starts today at 6 p.m. Eastern (3 p.m. Pacific) on the game's Twitch channel. Evolve is set to release February 10 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
