Apple iPhone 6 Manufacturer Said To Be Increasing Production To Satisfy Demand, May Even Start Producing iPhone 6 Plus

Apple's iPhone 6 Manufacturer Is Stepping Up The Pace To Meet Demand

Pegatron, one of the manufacturers that Apple uses to assemble the new iPhone 6, is reportedly investing in expanding its production capabilities to help Apple meet the high demand that the phone still enjoys almost two months after launch.

The report comes from Nikkei Asian Review (thanks, 9to5Mac), who says that the assembler is looking to increase the volume of units that it's capable of producing.

When it's not busy sounding like a knock-off Transformers villain, Pegatron is thought to be responsible for producing up to half of Apple's iPhone 6 units, supplementing those produced by Foxconn, Apple's better-known assembler. According to the report, however, Pegatron might be looking to expand its production to include the iPhone 6 Plus, which is, as of now, thought to be only produced by Foxconn.

The LG G3 Could Become The First Android Device To Get The Lollipop 5.0 Upgrade

The iPhone 6's opening weekend set sales records for Apple, and demand for the smartphone has been high ever since, especially for the larger iPhone 6 Plus. The 6 Plus was harder to find at launch, with buyers facing month-long shipping delays within the first day of preorders. This could be due to a combination of Apple underestimating the demand for such a large device and the reported production delays that the iPhone 6 Plus suffered back during the summer.

As the iPhone 6 has launched in more and more countries, the demand problem has steadily continued. Apple has stated that every new shipment their supply chain produces is sold out soon after it hits the market. With the holiday season approaching, the supply problem for the iPhone 6 is likely to continue in full force. Hopefully, investing in more production power can help Apple start to win this battle between supply and demand.
