Nintendo announced that it will be releasing a patch for Super Smash Bros on 3DS, a somewhat surprising move that will aim to fix issues and balance gameplay.

The developer isn't exactly synonymous with post-release updates, especially ones meant mainly to tweak and adjust gameplay balance. Nintendo more often than not keeps its major software as is after launch, but balancing Super Smash Bros is a smart move given the committed fanbase. Nintendo announced the news (link in Japanese, via Kotaku) on its website.

Small tweaks in the forms of buffs or nerfs to specific characters can make a huge difference, and the minute details will be noticed and appreciated by the competitive community (provided Nintendo doesn't worsen problem areas).
