Destiny Voice Chat Is Coming: 2 Different Options Allow You To Talk With A Fireteam Or Players You Meet In-Game

Bungie has had its hands full listening and reacting to player feedback for Destiny, implementing nearly constant updates to the game and outlining the future plans.

One of the most popular requests-and one that makes sense given the supposed social nature of Destiny-is the addition of voice chat for players you meet in-game. Partying up was always an option, but far from the seamless method it could be. Bungie has heard the complaints, and will be adding voice chat to Destiny as part of the 1.0.3 update on November 18.

Bungie maintains that players consenting to party chat is essential. The developers don't want players bombarded with voices without agreeing to talk, and that his influenced the design of the systems they're rolling out:

Fireteam Chat

"Since launch, you've been able to use Fireteam Chat to speak to the Guardians included in your pre-formed party. This includes players who join you in orbit before you begin an activity together. Fireteam Chat is signified by the speaker icon."

Team Chat

"After the update, you'll be able to join a new channel that will provide for Team Chat. This will include the players you meet via Matchmaking, as well as members of your Fireteam who make the same selection. This option will be available in any matchmade activity - including Strikes and in team-based Crucible matches. Team Chat is signified by the megaphone icon."

Team Chat is the one players will be most happy about, as it allows them to jump into a conversation with players they've come across. No pre-planning or party creation is required, making it easier to complete objectives with players you find yourself working with online. A prompt will let you know when a chat is available-visit the blog post for full details.
