The Creative Assembly has released both paid and free DLC today for Total War: Rome II, adding a new faction to the game to every owner at no cost.

The Massilia faction--a wealthy trading-state of Greek colonists situated on the north-western coast of the Mediterranean--are now updated into the game automatically through Steam. The developers explain that the Massilia have adopted Gallic culture and military style, making them a "unique and fascinating independent faction".
The paid content is called the Black Sea Colonies Culture Pack, and adds three additional "hybrid factions" to the game. The Cimmeria, Colchis and Pergamom can join your game in Campaign and Custom matches for $7.99. A trailer for both of the new content releases can be seen below.

Alongside the release of the DLC, the developers have released another patch. Patch 16 makes some fixes to AI, the campaign map, and balances a plethora of unit attributes for battles. Below are some of the highlights-you can find the full patch notes here.
- Adjustment to Campaign AI to force factions that have just become known / discovered to take on the current attitude towards the player, rather than be neutral.
- Armies moving from a settlement will no longer trigger "move completed" dialogue lines before their move has begun.
- Fixes for seasonal effects and adjustments to income types and amounts from buildings in the campaign so subsistence is more favored.
- Diplomatic scores have been lowered in general, and It is now harder to make client states.
- Increased damage of longbows but reduced reload rate.
- In the Mac Steam version of the game, some changes to the games options during play will not be kept once the game is restarted.
