Crusader Kings II 'Way Of Life' DLC Announced, Patch 2.3 Will Launch In A Beta

Crusader Kings II's Next DLC Will Up The Ante In The Role Playing Department

Paradox Interactive, the studio behind Crusader Kings II, has revealed the game's next DLC pack, and they also announced that they're looking for help beta testing the vanilla game's upcoming 2.3 patch.

The DLC, titled "Way of Life," is aiming to increase the level of role playing that players can get out of the strategy game. In Way of Life, players will have more control than ever in their ruler's personal life. Instead of waiting around for a queen to join them on the throne, players will be able to actively court potential partners. And if that partnership ends up not working out, players can ditch their significant other without having to go all King Henry VIII on them and having them killed.

On the forum post describing the upcoming DLC (thanks, IncGamers), the developers promise that "hundreds of new events" will be coming in the Way of Life expansion.

Also announced in that post was the fact that Paradox will be asking players to help beta test the game's upcoming 2.3 patch, which, it should be noted, is not the same thing as the expansion. In Crusader Kings II, all expansions come with free updates for the base game, so no players are left out of the fun. This time around, some players will have the opportunity to test this patch before it goes live for everyone. According to the post, Paradox will have more details on how to get into this beta shortly.

There's no listed release date for Way of Life, which will be the 2012 game's ninth expansion, though CK2 players do have the relatively recent Charlemagne expansion to keep them busy in the interim.

Crusader Kings II is now available for PC, Mac and Linux.
