343 Industries will be releasing an update this week that further seeks to address the game's serious matchmaking issues.

The developers today issued a brief reminder that a patch is in fact coming this week, after studio head Bonnie Ross stated they were working on an update in her recent letter to fans. The coming patch, according to the new post, includes a "variety of updates for Matchmaking, UI, roster and lobby, and more".
The game's Matchmaking is still far from ideal, and very slow to work if it does at all. Searching for matches usually takes more than 10 minutes, and sometimes you'll never connect. Add in the uneven teams and irritating host migration drops, and the online component of what is a very good game is nothing but frustrating.

The developer's last update aimed at fixing the Matchmaking had little to no effect for most users, and in some ways made the situation worse. Parties won't split as much in games, but the searching seems to take even longer and even setting up custom matches is a chore. 343 is aware of the problems, and Ross apologized and stated the team's commitment to getting it right.
"With the initial release of Halo: The Master Chief Collection, we have not delivered the experience you deserve. I personally apologize for this on behalf of us all at 343 Industries. Our team is committed to working around the clock until these issues are resolved.
"While our team works on continual improvements and towards solutions, my commitment to you is that we will take care of all owners of Halo: The Master Chief Collection. Our primary and continued focus is first on fixing the issues at hand. Once we've done that, we will detail how we will make this right with our fans."
