Williams was not always onboard as she was not familiar with the source material and originally was wary of the role, but the power of social media won her over when she saw that fans from all over were nominating her for the role. She set up a meeting with Sam Raimi and Neil Druckmann, film producer and game director, and confirmed that she wants to do the movie.

However, production is still in its very early stages. There is no director, script, or really anything that would mean this movie was moving forward short of Williams herself. Druckmann is set to write the script himself for the film but beyond, there are still many roles to fill before this thing can be officially announced.
