HTC One M9 Leaks And Rumors: HTC's Next Smartphone Will Pack A 5.5-Inch Screen, Might Come In Two Models

The HTC One M9 Might Be Taking A Few Cues From Apple's Most Recent iPhone Release

The HTC One M9 rumor mill seems to be chugging along nicely, with new information surfacing regarding the upcoming phone's specs, its potential debut and the fact that two different M9 models might be in the works.

According to details from Chinese site MyDrivers (and published over at CNET), HTC's next big smartphone will feature a 5.5-inch display – about half an inch larger than the current MTC One M8 – with 2K resolution. The phone is also said to have up to 128 GB of storage space (though smaller models are available) and 3 GB of RAM, giving the M9 a hardware advantage over the M8 in addition to the increase in display size.

According to CNET, the HTC One M9 could be debuted as early as March 2015 at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. The M8 launched this year at the end of March, so the timing works out well enough to be plausible.

According To Google Play, No One's Really Upgrading To Android 5.0 Lollipop Yet

Another interesting aspect of the M9 release is that there are rumors that two different models are in the works: the HTC One M9 and the HTC One M9 Prime. It's a move that looks an awful lot like Apple's recent dual release of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, though HTC's two upcoming phones might have more tangible differences than just screen size. Speculation has said that the Prime version of the M9 will come will more powerful innards for the niche markets that like to have the fastest and most powerful phone specs on the market. The regular M9, then, would hit shelves for the casual smartphone market that doesn't need top-level hardware.
