The upcoming remake of the original Resident Evil won't make it in time for the holidays this year, but it won't be too much longer of a wait after that. Fans will be able to jump back into Raccoon City starting January 20.
Survival horror as a genre has blossomed over the last few years, with several studios setting out to prove that they can provide the best jump scares and foreboding atmospheres. All of these games, though, have the original Resident Evil to thank for laying the groundwork for the survival horror archetype. Now, players can head back to the genre's roots while, at the same time, enjoying the enhanced and updated graphics made possible by today's consoles.
When January 20 rolls around, Resident Evil will be available for $19.99 on PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC. The remake will be sold as a digital download.
