Star Wars Comic Preview: New Series From Marvel Follows Old Heroes After First Death Star's Destruction
Last week the new teaser trailer for Star Wars came out but this isn't the only upcoming bit of news for fans of the long running franchise. Marvel is releasing Star Wars #1 in the New Year and they've provided more details about the new comic book for fans.
If you're getting all burned out on new faces to remember, Jason Aaron, writer for the new book has good news for you, "Every story is about the characters, and we'll focus on all the old favorites. There will be big moments for everyone, from Han to R2-D2. But a major part of the narrative will be driven by Luke Skywalker and his journey of discovery, a journey that will decide the fate of the entire galaxy."
That's right, the comic series focuses on the main group that most people fell in love with. The series begins directly after the first Death Star is destroyed and follows Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, Han Solo, Chewbacca, R2-D2, and C-3PO during the next battles for liberation between the Rebel Alliance and the Empire.
This is not some sort of retelling or alt history, the work contained in these pages will be cannon for the Star Wars universe so fans can expect events that echo throughout the history of the series to show up.
Star Wars #1 is releasing in January of 2015. It will be written by Jason Aaron with art and cover by John Cassady. There will also be variant covers available at the time of release. Check out the trailer for the new Star Wars film below.
