There was plenty of news to come out of yesterday's PlayStation Experience, and it all started off with a bang with something everyone was hoping to see: new information about Uncharted 4. We didn't catch wind of a release date, unfortunately, but we may have walked out with something better, 15 minutes of gameplay.
The Next Legend Of Zelda Also Has New Gameplay Footage Out
The first thing you may be able to notice in the gameplay footage (which you can check out below) is that the game is already gorgeous, and the game is still only in pre-alpha. The game also already looks to have that memorable Uncharted feel to it. Even though developer Naughty Dog took a few years off from the series to make The Last of Us, the pace and atmosphere of the game looks to be spot on to what players will remember from the franchise's previous titles, and Nolan North's Drake still talks to himself in the same lovable way.
With all of the similarities, though, the gameplay demo showed off some features that are being added into the game, most of which take the form of new tools in Drake's arsenal. Near the beginning of the demo, Drake picks up a small climbing pick that adds a new level to Uncharted's climbing system. If Drake is climbing a rock wall made of softer, porous material, he can stab his pick into the rock face and create a handhold for himself, allowing him to reach new places. Another new tool that changes the way Drake gets around is his grappling hook. Throughout different levels, players will find tree branches that they can latch on to and use to swing around corners or across gaps.

As the video shows, the grappling hook can be used just for navigation, to cross a gap that's too wide to jump. It can also, however, be used in combat. Drake is shown swinging down from a tree branch to quickly get onto an enemy's level and take him out in the process.
Finally, the trailer also gave fans a chance to pick up on some of details of the game's story (and if you don't want to ruin the surprise at the end of the trailer, feel free to stop reading here and check out the demo). The final cinematic in the demo introduces us to a new character who is working with Drake to find a treasure, one who calls him "little brother." Since Nate grew up without parents in an orphanage, it's tough to say if this new guy is an actual biological brother or just a good friend of Drake's. What we do know, though, is that he's voiced by video game voice-over veteran Troy Baker, at least according to the actor's Twitter.
