New World Of Warships Trailer Highlights The Mayhem Of Rock, Paper, Scissors Gameplay Combat [VIDEO]

Rock, Paper, Scissor Was Never This Deadly: The New World Of Warships Trailer

Wargaming, purveyor of all things military, have released a new trailer for their upcoming naval sim World of Warships.

Brace Yourselves. Winter (Update) Is Coming To Clash Of Clans

Titled ‘Rock, Paper, Scissors’ the unnarrated 60 second trailer is a bit obtuse for outsiders. We see some gorgeously rendered ships firing upon one another, explosions, torpedoes and even airplanes descending upon enemy units, but little explanation as to why. Such a bizarre name for a video about World War II era gunships, yes?

Rock, Paper, Scissors - the first game we all really learn as a child - is the driving philosophy behind how the various types of ships interact with one another. We all know the rules, rock beats scissors, paper beats rock, etc. The same applies to the four types of vehicles in World of Warships.

The four classes of gunship are: Battleship, Destroyer, Cruiser and Aircraft Carrier. Destroyers are strong against Battleships, which are strong against Cruisers, which hunt down Destroyers. For obvious reasons, the Carrier gets to sit out the game of rock, paper, scissors; its job is to rain death from above, which is the equivalent of Pete throwing out a sub-orbital meteor in that one episode of The Adventures of Pete and Pete.

It’s fun, it’s fierce, it’s out and out war.

World of Warships is currently in closed alpha testing. The game should be out sometime next year and will be third in the ‘World of’ series from Wargaming alongside World of Tanks and World of Warplanes.

It does make you wonder where the company will go from there. World of Infantry? Hopefully: World of Starships. I’d play that game in a heartbeat.
