Avengers Age Of Ultron/ Agents Of Shield Tie-In Confirmed: Events In The Upcoming Film Will Affect Show
It's confirmed, there will be a tie-in between Marvel: Agents of Shield and Avengers: Age of Ultron. I mean, how could there not be?
As Super Hero Hype points out, the release of the second Avengers film corresponds perfectly with the end of Agents' season 2 run. Joss Whedon, executive producer of Agents and director/writer for Avengers, has said, "You should expect something. The Avengers is the big tent that all the franchises play under. Obviously, we're included in that."
Well, gee, I would think so, you're directing the thing! Seriously though, Marvel is going to great lengths to tie all of its properties together to create a cohesive universe to play in.
Agents of Shield has already proven to be a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. There was fallout for the show after the events of Thor: The Dark World and Captain America: The Winter Soldier, with the latter having long lasting effects over the entire series. The events of Avengers are speculated not to be as jarring for the show but there's really no way that the movie wouldn't trickle down to affect the agents on the small screen.
After all, Agents of Shield is essentially a spinoff of the blockbusters movie featuring Iron Man and Avengers alumni, Agent Phil Coulson aka Captain America super fan boy. The storylines don't follow the movies and it's clear that although there are tie ins and references to the franchise, Agents is very much its own show with its own history and agenda.
