Elegy For A Dead World Launches On Steam: Unique, Beautiful Indie Title About Writing Available Now

Elegy for a Dead World, an indie game about writing and storytelling, has released today on PC, Mac, and Linux through Steam.

Reaching Level 30 In Destiny Quickly Using The Dark Below's New Vanguard Gear

The beautifully animated 2D game puts the player in three distinct worlds of long-dead societies, inviting them to complete writing prompts about the fictional history to create stories. These can later be shared with the rest of the community through the Steam Workshop.

The trailer below displays the concept better than a mere description, so be sure to watch for a more complete understanding (and to appreciate the great art). The trailer itself is a treat, with the alluring visuals complemented by fitting, atmospheric music. There are 27 different writing challenges in the game, set in worlds inspired by the poetry of Keats, Byron, and Shelley.

The title was created by a small team (see their website for more details), and was critically lauded at events such as Indiecade and IGF 2014. The game was originally funded on Kickstarter, reaching more than $72,000 of its $48,000 goal, and is launching three months ahead of schedule. You can purchase Elegy for a Dead World on Steam for $13.49 until December 17, when it will return to $14.99.
