New Jump Festa Trailers For Final Fantasy XV And Type 0 HD Reveal A Darker, Beautiful World To Play In [VIDEO]

Two New Trailers Unveiled For Both Final Fantasy XV And Type-0 HD; Misery Loves Company, Darkness, Politics And Road Trips

The past weekend was an early Christmas present to fans of all things Final Fantasy. In addition to some big reveals regarding Final Fantasy XIV at the Tokyo Final Fantasy Festival, attendees of the Jump Festa convention were also treated to not one but two new trailers for the next entries into the beloved RPG series.

Final Fantasy XIV Patch 2.5 Logo Revealed And Heavensward Details Unveiled At Fan Fest

Final Fantasy Type-0 HD, the remake of the PSP game, comes out in March and the advertising campaign has been pretty great. The latest trailer delves into the darkness that will affect the fourteen cadets of Class Zero and I must say, I was genuinely moved by some of the despair and emotion on display. Characters breaking down in their last moments always have that effect on me.

The trailer also shows off some the decidedly non-turn based combat present in the game, which continues to impress more and more.

One Piece: Pirate Warriors 3 Comes To PS4 And Steam In 2015. Next Gen At Last!

The video is underscored by a solo Japanese man singing a dirge to the many friends that will fall along your way. It’s quite moving and adds to the sense of misery and suffering that will be interspersed amongst the gameplay. This will not be a fun or colorful entry into the series. Check out the trailer:

At long last, though, a new English language trailer has emerged for Final Fantasy XV. Finally, we get to see more than just four buddies driving through the countryside! The trailer shows off bits of the overarching political atmosphere in the world, some stellar looking next gen combat and a very, very giant…giant that has it is in for our protagonist.

Unlike the English translation of the previous trailer, the voice acting feels a bit more polished here. That may have to do with the gravitas of the words spoken, but given that there will be dozens of hours of conversation to go through, we should expect some variable level of quality.

No matter which you get (or which you get first), both Type-0 HD and XV are looking spectacular. They each fill their own particular niche - with Type-0 being an out and out war game, and XV attempting something a bit more fantastic.

Final Fantasy Type-0 HD arrives first on March 17, 2015. Fans can pre-order the game to gain access to the FF XV demo, titled Episode Duscae.
