In 1973, the idea of vacationing on a ranch took a terrible turn in Michael Crichton's Westworld. Now thanks to HBO, the classic film is getting a revamp in the form of a series under the same name. The first looks at the cyborgs gone wrong and dusty manmade landscape have finally been released.

Westworld is like Disneyland if Disney actually let you do whatever you want, indulge in any fantasy. As producer Jonathan Nolan describes it, "It's a place where you can be whoever you want to be and there are no consequences-no rules, no limitations," to Entertainment Weekly.
The show is a science fiction/western mashup and if it follows the movie, then the cyborg attractions? Workers? Go horribly bad. "What we can tell you is that we intend to make the most ambitious, subversive, f-ked-up television series," Nolan added. So expect a bumpy ride.

The original movie came out in 1973 and stared Yul Brynner as the black clad cowboy that hunted down the not so happy vacationers after a power surge turned him evil. There was a sequel and even a television show that followed up the original movie. However, it was cancelled fairly early on after just a handful of episodes.
The New Westworld will feature some big name stars, such as Ed Harris and Anthony Hopkins and although production is still pretty tight lipped on details, it seems that they will play some major roles in the series.
Westworld is part of HBO's 2015 lineup.
