Halo 5 Guardians Beta Available For Pre-Load: Here's How To Download Now Ahead Of The Trial's Launch
The Halo 5: Guardians Beta can now be pre-loaded ahead of its launch tomorrow, available to all owners of Halo: The Master Chief Collection.
The beta recently ran a short early access weekend for select publications, professional Halo players, and members of the Xbox Preview Program. It will be open tomorrow morning (around 9 a.m. PST) for anyone who owns The Master Chief Collection tomorrow, but you can save wait time upon release by downloading now.
Accessing the beta is a little more complicated than it needs to be, it should be said. As outlined in this Reddit thread, you must access the game through the Halo Channel, and it requires you to watch (or skipped through) the Nightfall show--press 'X' during an episode to bring up the rewards menu. A tab or option on the Halo Channel main menu probably would have sufficed, as the developers should want more visibility for their test, but there are the directions nonetheless.
The beta build was patched days ago following the conclusion of the early access period, but 343 gave no indication as to what was changed. The update was almost 8 GBs, though the overall file size post-patch ended up being slightly smaller, so clearly something fairly significant was implemented. Whether graphical, performance, or gameplay tweaks, the patch hopefully responded to any issues or suggestions that arose during early access.
343 has expressed its desire to treat the beta as a true test period, and would like to hear feedback from the community throughout. The beta will run until January 18--you can watch the trailer for the trial build below.
