Fans of the long running Dynasty Warriors franchise will have to wait just a little bit longer for the release of the tactical strategy entry, Dynasty Warriors 8 Empires. The game has been pushed back a month from January 20 to February 24 here in the States, according to developer Tecmo Koei.

The European release has been pushed back to February 27. No word was given as to the reason for the delay, but it is easy to guess that bug-fixing and final polish are needed for the PS4, PS3, Xbox One and PC game. Given the recent launch day woes of several major titles, if a delay is necessary to ensure a better, smoother experience, then so be it.

Additionally, Tecmo Koei released the opening move for the game which, in true company fashion, assaults you with characters, explosions and thumping, synth-infused soundtrack that is sure to get you pumped. Watch it below.

Dynasty Warriors 8 Empires will allow players to choose between any of 83 individual pre-rendered characters - or even create their own unique figure tailored to their own playstyle. You can even customize your own horse and banner this time around.

“Courageous warriors trudge through Ancient China with its vast plains, bleak wastelands, narrow ravines and immense castles as they slash through enemy lines (it is a Dynasty Warriors game, after all).”

The game will also pit players against not only enemies but also the forces of nature as the changing seasons bring new elements to 35 different battlefields across the ages of Chinese history. We'll find out come February.
