The content was originally meant to be paid DLC, but Ubisoft has decided to give Dead Kings away to owners as an apology for the game's sloppy, bug-filled launch. Big-budget titles launching with issues is becoming all-too common, but at the very least these gestures are mostly coinciding with the problems.

In Dead Kings, Arno explores the city of Saint-Denis and its extensive, open world underground. Saint-Denis is an ancient necropolis with an intricate network of catacombs and deep caves that hide the best-kept secrets of the French kings.

The cinematic trailer below gives some setup for the content in Dead Kings, though it's all CGI. Still, Assassin's Creed gameplay might come a lot closer to the action in its trailers than many games, and the dark mysterious tone of Dead Kings is intriguing. Download it now on Xbox One and PC, and look for it tomorrow on PS4.
