The Cones Of Dunshire Board Game From Parks And Recreation Is Real And Needs Your Help On Kickstarter
Fans of NBC's Parks and Recreation, rejoice! The Cones of Dunshire is real, and it needs your help.
The elaborate, expansive board game was created by Ben Wyatt (Adam Scott) during his downtime between jobs and has gone on to become something of a legend in the world of the show. Wyatt himself is referred to only as 'The Architect' amongst hobby enthusiasts, and he even shows a thing or two to one particularly snarky challenger in a later season.
The Kickstarter video is a promotional ad from Tilton and Radomski accounting in lovely Pawnee, Indiana. They're as hilariously awkward as they are in the show.
The game on the show is designed to be ludicrous, impenetrable and overwrought. But have you seen the kinds of board games they have nowadays? Moving parts galore. What's another one with a ten foot board, 48 cones (of varying sizes and colors), more cards than you can shake a handcrafted artisan stick at and a game...box, which by all accounts sounds more like a crate.
Due to the sheer size and volume of the game, only a limited number of copies will be printed. And you can donate to the cause, but only those who give $500 or more can hope to receive an actual physical copy of the Deluxe Edition. Fans who donate $150 can get a Cones of Dunshire game box, but by all accounts, that does not include the actual game.
The Kickstarter page is an exercise in absurdity, but it is a very real campaign and it needs your help. Mayfair Games, who publishes the award-winning and still amazing Settlers of Catan, is spearheading the campaign, so you know Ben Wyatt's dream is in good hands.
"This is expensive, but this is a one-time opportunity to own a legendary game in an edition that people will talk about and desire for years. Nothing else will bring The Architect's vision to life, as this game will! Become a part of history-be one of the proud owners of the Deluxe Edition of The Cones of Dunshire!"
Head over to the page and donate. Soon, you too can be the Ledgerman!
