New 'Adventure Time Game Wizard' Mobile App Lets You Draw, Scan And Play Your Very Own Creations [TRAILER]
There's a lot of complaining about the lack of imagination the state of modern video games have brought about. "All games are murder simulators!" or "Where's the creativity in this?" Here to encourage children to think outside of the box - literally, outside of the box-shaped phone - is Adventure Time Game Wizard.
The premium iOs app is available now. Though it is not as easy to pick up and just start playing, that is actually half the point. The game is a hybrid mobile/analog title and you only get out of it what you put into it. Using special paper layouts that can be printed and drawn on, players can scribble their own platforming levels and then upload them for a digital makeover.
You can then play those levels in the game! You become both creator and player in some weird philosophical paradox.
The synopsis, from Cartoon Network's press release: "The user-generated levels become part of a story where Finn and Jake happen upon a magical sketchbook (property of a brand-new character, the mysterious Doodle Wizard) and quickly discover that anything drawn in the book comes to life. Without hesitation they begin to sketch up their own adventures and watch as their drawings run around the pages right before their eyes... but it isn't all fun and games, as it seems a nefarious presence lurks within the sketchbook's pages."
It's a similar concept to Mario Maker, also due out this year, but will encourage more creative thinking as well as that most important thing in life: spending time off the damn phone.
It even has Weird Al as the voice of the Doodle Wizard!
