The Walking Dead Spinoff News: Cobalt May See A Return To The CDC [RUMOR]

Dr. Jenner May Return For The Walking Dead Spinoff

Cobalt, The Walking Dead spinoff, begins filming soon. Robert Kirkman has recently opened up about some of the details but there's a new rumor circulating that would tie together the two shows, as a character who died early on in The Walking Dead may make an appearance in the coming show.

The Walking Dead Spinoff Will Be A Totally Different Show Than The Original

Edwin Jenner (Noah Emmerich) was the CDC doctor that told Rick (Andrew Lincoln) that everyone was infected, which was one of the biggest shocks in first season of The Walking Dead.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Kickman has said that he would not have had that reveal so early in the series if he had it all to do over again.

Given this, and the fact that the new show takes place when the whole zombie apocalypse deal is just gaining steam, there could be a chance that we'll see Emmerich's character again on the small screen. After all, Dr. Jenner was studying the virus for the CDC which I'm sure someone will likely contact to get answers.

The only thing is, Kirkman already confirmed that there would be no reoccurring characters between the show. However, Jenner had a wife that was also a scientist. We didn't actually see her in the show, only thermal images of her brain.

I think that it's far more likely that we may see her in the new show over her husband. After all, Jenner said that she was the better scientist anyway. This would give the new show a totally different cast while still very concretely tying the universe together.

It's easy to say that two are related but it may need more than just zombies to indicate that they exist in a shared universe.

There's no release date for Cobalt as of yet but fans can catch the return of The Walking Dead (original flavor) on February 8 on AMC.
