American Horror Story Season 5: Freak Show May Have Dropped A Hint In The Last Episode

A Throwaway Line May Be The Key To The Entire Next Season Of American Horror Story

The last episode of American Horror: Freak Show possibly revealed a little hint about the coming season of the popular show. A throwaway line from a secondary character may provide a huge clue as to what season five will bring.

When Massimo is speaking to Elsa in their final scene together during the season finale of Freak Show he mentions that he built homes for nuclear testing sites. For everyone not up on their history, the government often built full scale towns to test their weapons on.

So what's the connection here?

Next season is rumored to be based on "Operation Top Hat" which was a field exercise in which the government tested biological and chemical weapons on soldiers, you know, for science.

Massimo was directly involved in that world.

Next season could be a modern day horror story around the descendants of that test. Like mutated freaks in the woods.

Yes, we did just have carnival freaks, but these would be inbred, radiation/chemical warfare, freaks. Totally different thing.

No, it would not be a direct take on Operation Top Hat but no season of American Horror Story is directly based on any one ideal. Every season has been a mixture of various similar American urban legends that made an entire show.

A concept like this would combine American conspiracy theories, cryptids, and possibly murderous mountain people. All huge parts of American urban lore.

It would also give the show a chance to bring back the old anthology feel as it could potentially involve a wide breadth of characters each with their own story inside of a whole singular tale.

The theme for the next season of American Horror Story is generally revealed in mid-March. Only a few weeks left to get those theories in!
