Travel Back Home Again With The Gorgeous New Life Is Strange Launch Trailer

And time travel, we mustn't forget time travel. Taking a page from the independent film revolution of the 90s, with a healthy dose of Donnie Darko, Life Is Strange tells the story of young woman named Max, who - upon returning to her childhood hometown - discovers she has the power to travel back in time.

The first chapter, titled 'Chrysalis' reunites main character Max with her old childhood friend Chloe and plunges her into a mystery surrounding a missing student. But mostly, it's about growing up and not being able to go home again, even if you find yourself surrounded by the trappings of your youth.

"Life is about choices." The game's trailer states, but more importantly, life is about living with the consequences. There is no right way to play Life Is Strange, only differing branches. When Dontnod and Square Enix showed off the game back before New York Comic Con, we saw the many different ways a single scene can play out. Your choices will profoundly affect not only the narrative, but your relationships amongst people.

The choices you make in episode 1 will ripple through the remaining chapters as they are released. So choose your own path wisely. In the game, you can only rewind to the beginning of the current "scene".

Dontnod hopes to release the next chapters about every six weeks or so.

A free trial will be offered to those wishing to try it out at first. Life Is Strange hits servers tomorrow. Watch the launch trailer.
