Nintendo eShop And Virtual Console Update: Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate 3DS Demo, Hyrule Warriors DLC, Dig Dug And More!
This week's Nintendo eShop and Virtual Console update is more like an appetizer before the main dish that is next Thursday. Let's see what the House of Mario is offering us today!
First and foremost, if you're not sure you want to purchase Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate, then you can try out the free demo for the Nintendo 3DS. The fairly robust demo opens up both single player and multi-player modes for yourself and up to four of your friends. Big game hunting has never been finer, or more portable.
Two big sets of DLC are hitting both Nintendo 3DS and Wii U. First, the remaining three episodes of Moon Chronicles - Unknown Source, Surprise Visit and Home Sweet Home? - are all available for download. The saga of Major Kane comes to a close in the handheld FPS adventure. Each episode costs $4.50, or you can download the season pass for $9.00. The first episode is on sale for $4.50 as well for a limited time.
The big one, though, is the Majora's Mask DLC pack for the wonderful Hyrule Warriors. Young Link and Tingle join the huge roster of Hylian battlers, complete with their own brand of special moves. New costumes for three of the female warriors, an all new Adventure mode and weapons and items. Take a trip back to Hyrule right now on the Wii U for $7.99.
Players can also pre-purchase the upcoming Kirby and the Rainbow Curse today and have it ready to go when the game goes live on February 19.
This week brings us two new Virtual Console titles. For the 3DS, players can pick up Game & Watch Gallery 3, the compilation title with five classic mini-games like Egg, Mario Bros and Green House, and six extra that can be unlocked. $3.99
The Wii U is getting DIG DUG, the classic mining game from the NES era. Drill through rock, defeat enemies and remember to eat your vegetables in this titan of the industry for $4.99. Also out on the Wii U is MAPPY LAND, wherein you must navigate Officer Mappy - a mouse - through the treacherous catland realm to rescue all the presents that have been stolen. Hey, nobody said we were making art back in the day. $4.99.
Also out this week:
Dolphin Up - jump, flip, spin in this acrobatic title that shouldn't take you more than two minutes to play, but you'll probably want to play it over and over again. $3.99 for the Wii U.
Puzzle Monkeys - optimized for use with the Wii U Gamepad, this block busting game takes the Tetris formula and gives it a makeover. $2.99 for the Wii U.
Tri-Strip - reminiscent of such analog games like Tangelos, Tri-Strip is a simple puzzle game that tasks players with various geometric challenges. $1.99 for the Wii U.
KAMI - one must hand it to the 3DS, they have a lot of simple yet unique puzzle games. KAMI, for instance, is a paper folding title, a very zen-like experience. $2.99 for 3DS.
Until next Thursday. Oh, you know what's out next week. Here's a hint, it rhymes with Bajoran Task. Yeah, it's totally a Star Trek DS9 game...
