Destiny Heroic Weekly Strike Matchmaking Is On The Way In Update 1.1.1, Still Won't Apply To Nightfall Or Raids
There are a numerous changes that Destiny players would ask Bungie for before they started altering the weekly heroic strikes, but he developers have gone ahead and announced matchmaking for the mode.
Every week, one of the game's strike missions is chose as a special event, adding a Heroic difficulty modifier and handing out Strange Coins as rewards. You get more for higher difficulty levels, and friends team up in groups of three to take them on. Unlike the Strike playlist, there's currently no matchmaking for the Weekly Heroic Strike, but Bungie announced that it's on the way in the next update.
"We wanted the Weekly Heroics to be a challenge that pushed you and your buddies, but what we observed was that these strikes don't demand the same cooperation of a cohesive pre-made group," said Design Lead M.E Chung. "The overwhelming community response was such that many players didn't have the numbers on their friends list to experience the activity on a weekly basis."
It applies to all levels of the Weekly Heroic Strike, meaning you'll no longer be able to solo or two-man the challenge since it will enter matchmaking if you don't have three out of three required Guardians. This isn't the most deft way to handle the situation, as it forces players into something they may not want to do.
I appreciate the feature of Heroic Weekly Strike matchmaking--I know I have found myself without a Fireteam but in need of coins--and others have clearly been requesting the it. Matchmaking won't be coming to the Nightfall or Raids in this update, just the Weekly Heroic. More coins for everyone?
